Contrary to reports that the first lady, Patience Jonathan was certified fit and due to return to the country a few days ago, there are indications that her medical handlers are still not satisfied with her condition, necessitating the delay in approving her discharge from hospital.
Sources say President Goodluck Jonathan had, during his visit to the Horst Schmidt Klinik in Germany to see the first lady, suggested she should be moved to an undisclosed hotel to continue her treatment, but the request was turned down by her doctors who insisted she should remain in the hospital.
Further reports suggest that all security aides attached to Patience Jonathan in the German hospital have been directed to move to an undisclosed hotel so as to prevent further leakage of information as to the health status of the ailing first lady. Sources say the president’s decision was not unconnected with the information about President Jonathan’s secret visit to his wife which got leaked to journalists shortly after he arrived in New York for the just concluded 67th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
