Arik Air management confirm arrested drug traffickers are staff

Nigerian airline, Arik Air has confirmed that a couple of its crew members were in detention for having drugs suspected to be cocaine in their possession after one of its flight to the U.K.
On Tuesday a statement released by Arik Air spokesman, Adebanji Ola, said that the airline was co-operating fully with the investigators in Nigeria and the UK.
According to reports, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency had earlier said that it would probe two Arik Air crew members allegedly found with cocaine at Heathrow Airport, London.
“Arik Air remains committed to the fight against drug and illicit substances trafficking and will not tolerate the use of any of its aircraft or crew for the courier of banned items and substances,” he said.
“Arik Air carries out very stringent checks on all members of staff and its traveling guests ahead of all flights.”
“It will continue to focus its attention on measures to prevent the possibility of any future similar incidents.”
“Arik Air is a responsible Nigerian company always seeking to maintain and uphold the integrity and proud reputation of the nation.”
